Wait what? Yes I know this is a little weird but hear me out. I have had horses for years but got out of showing them and jumped into dogs. I still love them but I decided my time showing horses was done.
Fast forward and about three years ago I was trying to figure out what to buy my husband as a birthday present but what do you buy someone who has pretty much everything that he wants? That’s when I found MrRacehorse and they had a very cool option to buy into leases of two top racing mares Monomoy Girl and Get Stormy.
We started buying microshares and it was a lot of fun but it was very much just scratching the surface and I really wanted to get more in the details which is when I found Wasabi Venture Stables which is a fractional group versus microshares which means instead of owning 3 hairs of a horse I could buy 0.5-5% of a horse.
This was fun except one thing – I get attached and most of the horses run in claiming races so it was really tough for me and I would get heartbroken when they would get claimed (Wasabi follow all ex horses so they are tracked which is another reason I support them) so I have shifted more to the breeding side for the most part except for horses that look like we may keep them in allowance conditions.
Benevengo 2019 Bay (Gormley x On High Alert by Megadlia D’Oro)
Black Type Stakes Winner (104 Beyer)
We own 3% of Bene aka Benny aka Benny Boo Boo. He was claimed in 2022 for $25,000 and has current earning of $214,000.
Benny is trained by Jesse Cruz and is racing on the east coast
Unrequited Love (2018 Despite The Odds x Wild For Love by Not For Love)
Maryland Stakes performer (35-7-5-6) $228,000 in earnings
We own 20% of this lovely young mare. Lovey raced in the Mid-Atlantic for three years and retired sound. She is a half sister to a WVS stakes winning horse and I adore the Not For Love lines.
She is bred to Tacticus who is a multiple Grade 1 winning son of Tapit for a 2024 foal.
Raggedy (2020 Union Rags x Secret Ballot by Courageous Cat)
Just starting her career! See her in the Mid Atlantic with trainer Jesse Cruz before breeding her in 2024.
We own 20% of Barbie. I am a part of the Wasabi Investment Fund and knew we were going to be purchasing at the July Fasig Tipton sale and she was my pick!
When the gavel hit and we bought her I immediately told TK I needed to own part of her. Her dam line is incredible and her 2 yr old half brother by Arrogate sold for almost half a million dollars.
